For purely professional reasons (and to give the gubbermints another page for my file). . .

. . . which LOLswald do you believe?

(The lack of posting and the slaphappiness are both brought to you by the letters "D" and "issertation," and by the number 11)

On your comments a few months back about what a great writer Ellroy is (was?), I am now reading American Tabloid, so this post is timely...
To answer your question, I have no friggin' clue - but that's not unusual...
Again these are brilliant. Just brilliant.
I like the second one better, though I don't know if I believe it. I love me a good conspiracy theory...
I can't stop searching for LOL material. My favorite so far...

Leave it to you to make LOL intellectual. Classic.
chris: American Tabloid is kind of where Ellroy starts to go one toke over the line. He's been batshit crazy his entire life (who can blame him?), but that's the point where he stopped writing novels and started writing 400 page bad beat poetry.
ma: merci
mg!: I think the caption on that one definitely turned out better.
claven: I'd like to teach the world to LOL.
megarita: I don't know about intellectual. . .
Well, so far, I am thuroughly enjoying the bad beat poetry... I had always associated him with the "it was a dark stormy night," Guy-Noire sort of thing, which has never appealed to me. Guess I'll have to try out LA Confidential to get a real taste of classic Ellroy.
I have now spent hours on the LOLcats website. I thank you. My job... not so much. :-)
chris: I enjoyed American Tabloid the first time I read it; my subsequent reactions were all colored by how much I hated The Cold Six Thousand, which is written in exactly the same style.
rebecca: Yeah, I'm spreading the joy of LOLcats the world over.
